Maya Savage

Founder, Reclaiming Savage, LLC

Born into a vegan Raja Yoga practice, Maya has worked diligently to bring truth and nourishment to all who inquire. She began teaching yoga as a certified instructor at the age of 18. Maya Savage is a writer, researcher, and equity-driven educator who integrates storytelling, embodiment, and truth-telling to inspire transformation. As founder of Reclaiming Savage, she blends wellness, consulting, and creative practice to serve individuals and organizations seeking healing and equity in action. As the Director of Programming for YogaRoots On Location, Maya builds relationships with current clients, researches new grant funding, and develops culturally responsive curriculum for Professional Development and Continuing Education that certifies educators and social workers with ACT 48 credits. She is also a Senior Consultant with the Human Solidarity Project, which curates space for healing conversations.

Her work bridges the personal and structural—drawing from a decade of experience in education, leadership training, curriculum design, and community wellness. Maya’s research explores mindfulness and justice. Maya has poured into her writing career through the Yale Writers’ Workshop and NYU x Rolling Stone Modern Journalism program. Maya writes at the intersection of sexuality, joy, education, spirituality, and liberation. She is currently a Mentoring Teaching Artist at the August Wilson House in her class "Writing As Ancestral Reclamation". Her voice advocates for inclusive spaces where both data and narrative serve as tools for healing and social change.

Through writing, research, and embodied leadership, Maya invites others to move toward transformation through honoring lived experience, ancestors, self-reflection, and creative practice. Maya breathes equity into every part of her life while healing from the impacts of racism by curating moments of peace as a certified Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200-hour trainer.

As a writer, she continues her path of vulnerability and honesty through her series “Confessions of a Retired Side Chick..the H.O.E fables”.

Let’s transform together.
